Earthquake Page JTG

The earthquake load is applied according to JTGT B02-01-2008 (for Highway Bridges)

SettingDescription
Tg Characteristic period dependent on ground types according to JTG Table 5.2.3.
Damping Damping ration in %, default value 5% used to calculate Damping correction factor according to JTG 5.2.4.
Consider E1/E2 Selects whether the E1 design earthquake or E2 design earthquake shall be applied or not.
Horizontal earthquake

Selects whether the vertical earthquake load shall be applied or not.

SettingDescription
Acceleration coefficient (H) Horizontal Design Earthquake acceleration dependent on the magnitude of earthquakes that can be expected in the respective region.
Soil coefficient The maximum value of the design spectrum is influenced by the correction value Cs dependent on the ground type and also on the design ground acceleration, JTG Table 5.2.2.
Influence coefficient Depending onto the selected bridge category: A, B, C, D and the investigated earthquake event (E1 or E2) we have the correct Seismic influence coefficient Ci , JTG Table 3.1.4-2.
Vertical earthquake

Selects whether the vertical earthquake load shall be applied or not.

SettingDescription
Acceleration coefficient (V) Vertical Design Earthquake acceleration dependent on the magnitude of earthquakes that can be expected in the respective region.
Response coefficient (R1) Response factor situated in the low period (high frequency) region between 0 and 0.1 seconds of the vertical response spectrum.
Response coefficient (R2) Response factor situated in the high period values above 0.3 sec of the vertical response spectrum.
Drawing Graphical display of the response spectrum. If vertical response spectrum is selected, too, it will be displayed in addition.
